Yorkshire Cancer Research Coffee Evening: Masham Town Hall, Little Market Place, Masham. Friday, December 6 7-9pm, to be opened by Dr Phil Saunders. Cakes, gifts, toys, groceries, bulbs, Christmas wreaths, table arrangements, jewellery, bric-a-brac, Christmas cards, tombola and raffle. Entertainment by Claire Strafford. Admission is £1 for adults, children free. The committee will be at the town hall from 10.30am to receive gifts for the stalls. Tamsin Nicklas’s Stall: Masham Town Hall, Saturday, December 7 10am-4pm. Selling quiz sheets with a sweet theme, the winner will receive champagne and chocolates which have been kindly donated by Joneva’s of Masham. Fearby resident and Bedale High School pupil Tamsin has been offered the opportunity to travel to Vietnam to assist with community projects which will include living with and helping locals. Traditional Christmas Fair: Masham Town Hall, Saturday, December 7 10am-4pm. Crafts and gifts ideas, Santa’s grotto, stalls and activities, seasonal delights. Yummy refreshments by Fearby WI. Meet the Swinton Birds 10am-1pm. Visit Santa in his grotto 1.30-3.30pm. Plus all day chestnut roasting, hot food, fairground organ, hand bells, coconut shy, carol singers. Tea, coffee and cakes. Christmas trees for sale. Lots of stalls for gifts and treats. Please also remember on the same day Saint Mary’s Church Christmas tree festival, Methodist Church Fairtrade and Christmas fair, festive market, Christmas games in shops, window display competition, wood-fired pop-up pizza restaurant and the torchlight procession.

Mashamshire Community Office Calendar: limited supplies of the 2014 calendar featuring 12 photographic images of scenes in and around Masham are available from the community office for £6.99. All funds go towards the running costs of the community office. These are ideal Christmas presents. Also still available are the Masham tea towels and a limited number from the sheep fair, cost is £5 each. RNLI Christmas cards are also now in stock.
