Paintings and Prints of the Yorkshire Dales: at the Blue Light Gallery, within the Community Office, 7 Little Market Place, Masham, Ripon HG4 4DY. Ellen Galvin has been painting the local landscape for many years and her preferred style could be described as semi-abstract. Ellen and her husband own a barn in Nidderdale that has been converted into an artist’s studio – the views are amazing and a constant source of inspiration throughout the seasons. She uses pastels on canvas as well as paper, watercolours, acrylic, pen and ink and pencil. Ellen uses a broad colour pallet, sometimes exaggerating the colours to create an overall effect, highlighting the shapes of the field, barns and stone walls that are the essence of the Yorkshire Dales. The art on display at the Blue Light Gallery is just a small selection of the type of work Ellen has been producing recently. To view larger originals by Ellen you can contact her on 07880575566 or 0113 2752334. The Gallery is open daily from 10am until 3pm and from noon until 2pm on Sundays throughout August.
