Chapel services: there is no morning service in the Ebenezer Chapel on Sunday. The carol service begins at 4pm and will be led by the Rev Ruth Parry. At 9am on Christmas morning the Rev Ruth Parry will lead a short service.

Church services: communion by extension (BCP) with Adrian Roberts at 9am on Sunday in St Andrew’s Church. The crib service, with the Rev Caroline Falkingham, will be held at 4pm on Christmas Eve. The midnight communion service is at 11.30pm when the celebrant will be the Rev Caroline Falkingham with Liz Jarvis. There will be communion by extension with Adrian Roberts at 10.30am on Christmas Day.

Kirkby Malzeard Primary School: will hold its carol service in St Andrew’s church at 2pm this afternoon to which everyone is invited.

Carol singing: singers are invited to meet at 6pm at The Green on Sunday to complete their tour of the village. Refreshments will be served afterwards at the Methodist chapel.

Concert: at 7.30pm tomorrow the Highside Singers will be presenting their Christmas concert at Grantley village hall. Tickets are available from choir and hospice committee members or by phoning 01765 658838. The ticket price of £7.50 includes tea/coffee and mince pies or shortbread.

Annual festive quiz: begins at the earlier time of 8pm on Friday, December 27. The bar will be open from 7.30pm.


Church services: the Eucharist will be celebrated by the Rev Caroline Falkingham and Liz Jarvis at 9am on Sunday in St Lawrence’s Church and also at the same time on Christmas Day.


Chapel service: carol service begins at 6.30pm on Sunday and will be led by Patrice Lyth and friends. There will be a collection for Macmillan. All are welcome.


Folk dance club: tomorrow it will be the Highside folk dance club’s Christmas party with the Highside Allstars musicians and caller. It will be held in the village institute at 8pm and will finish at the later time of 11pm. The charge is £3 for adults and 50p for children.


Fountains Primary School: will hold a carol service tomorrow. Everyone is welcome to come along.

Annual Boxing Day: dance will be held at the village hall from 8pm to midnight when Alan’s band will play and there will be a raffle and supper.


Carol singing: Carol singers are invited to meet at 6.30pm on Monday to tour the village.


Christingle service: on Sunday in Sawley chapel with Rev Dr Pat Malham and the children. This begins at 5.30pm and everyone is welcome, especially the children.

Church services: at 10.30am on Sunday the Rev Lesley Ashton will lead the Carol service in the Church of St Michael and All Angels. The Christmas Day Eucharist will also begin at 10.30am.

Carol singing: in the village and surrounding areas begins this evening and will continue, weather permitting, each evening until next Thursday, December 26. Please meet at 6.30pm on The Green.

Christmas whist and domino: evening begins in the village hall at 7.30pm tomorrow.


No services: in the Church of Ss Cuthbert and Oswald until the united Benefice service on Sunday, December 29 at 10.30am.
