Church services: the Eucharist will be celebrated by the Rev Martin Bull at 10.30am on Sunday in St Andrew’s Church. The midweek communion service begins at 10.30am on Wednesday.

Chapel service: Mrs E. Hogerzeil will lead Sunday worship at 10.30am in the Ebenezer Chapel.

Coffee morning: from 10am-noon on Tuesday the monthly coffee morning will be held at the Methodist Chapel. Cakes and cards will also be on sale.

Afternoon tea: the afternoon tea held at the mechanics’ institute was a huge success and raised £424, including donations, for the Friends of Ripon Hospital. The money will go towards the refurbishment of Peggy’s garden and the summer house and will benefit all the patients and people who use the hospital for whatever reason, especially those attending out-patient clinics. The committee is grateful for the support the event received from the local community.

Show: the 2013 Flower and Produce Show takes place on Saturday, September 7 at the mechanics’ institute. Schedules are available at Kirkby Stores, the Queen’s Head, the mechanics’ institute or from any committee member. Entries are open to amateurs within a three mile radius of the mechanics’ institute, Kirkby Malzeard and also includes the whole parish of Dallowgill. The closing date for entries is 9pm on Saturday, August 24. They must be left with Arnie Clement, 16 Mowbray Crescent, Kirkby Malzeard or with Colin Rumbold at 23, The Green, Kirkby Malzeard.

Aldfield - Church service: there is no service on Sunday in St Lawrence’s Church.

Dallowgill - Chapel service: Sunday worship, led by the Rev Ruth Parry, begins at 2pm in Dallowgill Chapel.

Church service: there is no service on Sunday at the Chapel of the Resurrection.

Grantley - Dance: Philip Randals will play for Saturday’s dance. It will be held from 8pm to midnight and there will be a raffle and supper.

Anniversary: past presidents, officials and members of Grantley and Winksley WI are invited to the meeting at the village hall on Wednesday to join in the celebration of 85 years membership. Garden fete: the village hall committee is holding its annual summer garden fete on Bank Holiday Monday. There will be all the usual stalls, games and attractions on the field and teas will be served in the village hall.

Sawley - Church service: the family service begins at 10.30am on Sunday in the Church of St Michael and All Angels and will be led by Liz Jarvis.

Chapel service: there is no service on Sunday in Sawley chapel.

Meeting: members of the village hall committee meet at 7.45pm on Tuesday in the village hall.

Village hall events: there will be dominoes in the village hall at 1.30pm on Tuesday and a bowls match at 7pm. Short mat bowls will be held at 1pm on Wednesday.

Whist and dominoes: the monthly whist and domino night is Friday, August 16. It starts at 7.30pm

Winksley - Church service: the service of communion by extension with Adrian Roberts begins at 9am on Sunday in the Church of Ss Cuthbert and Oswald.
