Church services: Adrian Roberts will officiate at the service of communion by extension (BCP) at 8am on Sunday in St Andrew’s church. The mid week communion service will be at 10.30am on Wednesday.

Chapel service: at 10.30am Mr Geoff Phillips will lead Sunday worship at the Ebenezer chapel.

First response: there will be a meeting in the mechanics’ institute at 6pm tonight for first response team volunteers.

Meeting: members of Kirkby Malzeard, Laverton and Dallowgill Parish Council meet in the mechanics’ institute at 7.15pm on Monday.

WI: Kirkby Malzeard WI members meet at 7.15pm on Wednesday, July 3 when Kate Osbourne will be the speaker. Her subject will be interior design.

Yorkshire in Bloom: the summer judging takes place on Tuesday, July 9. The Spring judging was cancelled so everything depends on the village looking its best on the day.

Coffee morning: coffee will be served from 10am-noon at the Methodist Chapel. Everyone is welcome and there will be cakes, produce and cards for sale.

Duck race: the Highside playing fields association annual Duck Race will be held earlier this year. It starts at Laverton bridge at 6pm on Friday, July 12 and tickets are already on sale at Kirkby Stores and Highside butchers. As usual there will be children’s games, tombola and refreshments on the field.

Yorkshire Air Ambulance: the cake stall held on the Highside playing field at the 10k Run raised £188 to add to the £387.25 from the one held at the May Fair making a final total of £575.25 to be forwarded to Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

Aldfield - Church service: the Eucharist will be celebrated by Rev Caroline Falkingham at 9am on Sunday in St Lawrence’s Church.

Dallowgill - Chapel service: the service of the sacrament with Rev Susan Richardson begins at 2pm on Sunday in Dallowgill chapel.

Church service: there is no service on Sunday at the Chapel of the Resurrection.

Galphay - Folk dance club: the next meeting of the Highside Folk Dance club will be held in the village institute from 8-10pm tomorrow when the band will be Spile Tappers and Tony Whitehead will be the caller. The charge is £3 for adults and 50p for children.

Grantley - Meeting: Winksley cum Grantley Young Farmers’ club members meet in the village hall on Wednesday.

Dominoes: the next domino night at the village hall begins at 7.30pm on Friday, July 5.

Sawley - Church service: Rev Caroline Falkingham will celebrate the Eucharist at 10.30am on Sunday in the Church of St Michael and All Angels.

Chapel service: there is no service on Sunday in Sawley chapel.

Yoga: the yoga class will be held at 10am today in the village hall.

Whist and Dominoes: the monthly whist and domino night will be held at 7.30pm tomorrow in the village hall.

Village hall events: from 7.30pm on Monday there will be an opportunity to play table tennis. There will be a bowls match at 7pm on Tuesday and short mat bowls begins at 1pm on Wednesday.

Tea: afternoon tea will be served in the village hall from 2pm on Friday, June 28.

Meeting: Sawley WI members meet in the village hall at 7.30pm on Tuesday, July 2.

Winksley - Church service: there is no service on Sunday in the Church of Ss Cuthbert and Oswald.
