Church services: Rev Martin Bull will celebrate the Eucharist at 10.30am on Sunday in St Andrew’s church. The mid week communion service will be held at 10.30am on Wednesday.
Chapel service: there will be a service of Holy Communion at 10.30am on Sunday in the Ebenezer chapel. Rev Susan Richardson will be the officiant.
Village dinner: menus and booking forms are available at Kirkby Stores for the village dinner which will be held at the mechanics’ institute on Saturday. The bar will be open from 7pm and dinner served at 7.30pm prompt. Tickets are £15 each.
Coffee morning: the monthly coffee morning at the Methodist Chapel will be held from 10am-noon on Tuesday. All are welcome and there will be home made produce for sale.
Film night: the next film night at the mechanics’ institute will be on Friday, February 15. It starts at 7.30pm and all details are available on the notice boards. The film scheduled to be shown on Friday, January 18 was cancelled due to the severe weather conditions. It will now be screened on Friday, March 1.
Workshop: Kate Crane is holding a workshop using alcohol inks on embossed metal from 9.30am-12.30pm on Saturday, February 16 in the mechanics’ institute.
Dominoes: Kirkby Malzeard bowls club members are holding a domino night in the Highside playing field pavilion on Monday, February 18. It starts at 7.30pm, there will be a raffle and the £2 charge includes tea and biscuits. All are welcome to a friendly, sociable evening.
Quiz night: Friday, February 22 is the date of the monthly quiz night at the mechanics’ institute. It starts at 7.30pm.
Aldfield - Church service: there is no service on Sunday in St Lawrence’s Church.
Dallowgill - Chapel service: there is no service on Sunday in Dallowgill chapel.
Meeting: the Discover Dallowgill History Project meeting will take place at the Methodist chapel on Sunday. It begins after the 2pm service.
Galphay - folk dance club: The Village Hop Band will play for the Highside Folk Dance club when members meet in the village institute from 8pm to 10pm on Friday, February 15. Bob Carter will be the caller. The charge is £3 for adults and 50p for children.
Grantley - YFC: Winksley cum Grantley Young Farmers’ club members are holding their annual whist and domino drive at 7.30pm tonight in Sawley village hall. There will be supper and a raffle. The proceeds from the evening will go to club funds. All welcome.
Meeting: Grantley village hall committee members meet at 8pm tomorrow in the village hall.
Dancing: this will be held in the village hall from 7.30-10pm next Thursday, February 14.
Dance: the next dance at the village hall will be in aid of Dallowgill chapel. It will be held on Saturday, February 23 from 8pm to midnight. There will be a raffle and supper.
Sawley - Church service: Rev Caroline Falkingham will lead the family service at 10.30am on Sunday. Please note that this service will be held at Fountains school in Grantley, not at the Church of St Michael and All Angels.
Chapel service: Rev Susan Richardson will lead Sunday worship at 2pm in Sawley chapel.
Village hall events: there will be table tennis at 7.30pm on Monday, a bowls match at 7pm on Tuesday and short mat bowls at 1pm on Wednesday.
Meeting: members of Sawley village hall committee meet in the village hall at 7.45pm on Tuesday.
Whist and dominoes: there will be a whist and domino night in the village hall at 7.30pm on Friday, February 15.
Tea: afternoon tea will be served in the village hall from 2pm on Friday, February 22.
Sale: from 10am-1pm on Saturday, February 23 there will be a table top sale at the village hall. Please telephone 01765 620328 to book a table, price £7 a table, as soon as possible. Coffee and biscuits will be on sale (£1).
