Jubilee celebrations are almost underway in Masham and surrounding villages.
The weekend of festivities begins in Fearby and Healey with a Diamond Jubilee Sports Day on Saturday, June, starting with a Royal carriage procession to village green and including a children’s fancy dress, produce show, best dressed village door competition, and pig obstacle course, followed by ‘Grooving on the Green’ from 7pm. - disco, B.B.Q. and bar. The following day, there will be a Thanksgiving Service at St Mary’s Church, Masham at 10.45am.
On Monday, June 4, Amsham’s own celebrations will being on the Market Square at 5.30pm.
There will be live music from Bedale band The Conspirators, children’s compeition and prize givings and from 7.30pm a showing of the Queen’s Coronation film in the Town Hall.
At 10pm a beacon will be lit on Roomer common, and the evening will end with the National Anthem an a fireworks display from St Mary’s Churchyard at 10.15am.
Tickets £1 cost, are available from Mashamshire Community Office, and guarantee a place in the Town Hall if wet on the night.
