For only the second time in the history of Ripon Show, there were joint winners for the most points in the show.
The honours were shared this year between Roger Satariano and Ron Smith, who had the same number of points.
Show secretary Malcolm Hutchinson said: “It was lovely to see so many plot holders down at the Wakeman Bar at Ripon racecourse.
“There were some super exhibits on show – the youngsters section was brilliant.
“We have some incredibly inventive children and grandchildren. The bakery section was superb and attracted a lot of interest – as well as quite a few wasps.
“Despite a very ordinary summer, the flowers and veg on show were terrific with strong entries in many classes.
“The class which particularly impressed me was the Dish of Soft Fruit. Not a huge class with four entries but in my eyes anyone of the entries deserved first prize and it was a cruel that one of them ended up without a prize card.
“Susan Hague not only won the Davills Patisserie trophy for the best exhibit in the baking section with her decorated novelty cake but also won the Jimmy Simpson rose bowl for best exhibit in the show.
“It was good to see some new competitors at the show and winning prizes. One of those was Paul du Rocher who won the Ripon Marrow tankard for the heaviest marrow.”
