North Yorks pilot cancer scheme

A NEW financial guidance service for people affected by cancer is being launched in North Yorkshire.

It will help people affected by cancer who are not getting the vital financial support and guidance they need.

The service, being piloted in the county, has been developed by Macmillan Cancer Support, with support from the RBS Group and will provide free, independent guidance and support to help people make good money choices for the future. “We know that living with cancer can be the toughest fight of people’s life, and to make it worse 43 percent of people living with cancer see a significant change in their money situation. They would benefit from financial guidance and support to help them manage this change in circumstances,” said Neal Southwick, financial support programme lead at Macmillan.

Contact the service free on 0808 808 22 32 Monday to Thursday 9am-5pm and Friday between 9am and 4.30pm.

Macmillan’s team of financial guides will be able to offer support and guidance to people affected by cancer with a range of decisions.

These will include financial planning, to help with options around mortgages, insurance and pensions.
