Harrogate's Valley Gardens hit by new wave of awful vandalism

Harrogate's cherished Valley Gardens has been hit by graffiti vandals again in an ugly new attack.

A reader has spotted a rash of large, violent, colourful scrawls daubed on the walls of the Colonnades at the Sun Pavilion.Matt Goldberg said: "It's in the first dome on Cornwall Road side. Whoever did this must be caught. I'm disgusted by this vandalism. "Why would anyone want to ruin this wonderful park. They are nuts."In June the Harrogate Advertiser reported on the 'dark side' of the Valley Gardens after a spate of vandals attacks.Both Harrogate Borough Council and The Friends of the Valley Gardens have made repeated efforts to address the problem.A park ranger regularly patrols Valley Gardens for the council and tries to tackle issues of antisocial behaviour in the area.The Friends of the Valley Gardens, a charity whose volunteers who do so much to improve Valley Gardens for visitors, are dedicated to improving behaviour in the park through education rather than tough security.
