The following were dealt with at Harrogate Magistrates Court on February 23:

Leslie Francis Smith, 29, of 7-8 Bower Street, Harrogate, was fined £60 for failing to comply with an anti-social behaviour order by returning to the areas between James Street and Market Place in Harrogate town centre. He was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £20 and costs of £85.

Joe Flanagan, 31, of 1A Regent Parade, Harrogate, was ordered to carry out a further 30 hours of unpaid work for failing to comply with the terms of a previous community order. The total requirement was brought to 230 hours of unpaid work in the next 12 months and he was ordered to pay costs of £40.

The following were dealt with at Harrogate Magistrates Court on February 24:

Alex James Preston, 32, of 7 Bower Street, Harrogate, was given a 12-month conditional discharge for stealing two bottles of wine from The Co-op in Clotherholme Road, Ripon. He was ordered to pay copensation of £26.96, a victim surcharge of £15 and costs of £85.

The following were dealt with at Harrogate Magistrates Court on February 25:

Ashley Paul Watson, 21, of 59 Gallows Hill, Ripon, was given a two-year community order for assault by beating and behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress. He was given a three-month curfew and ordered to complete a six-month treatment for alcohol dependency. A two-year restraining order was imposed to prevent him from contacting the victim. He was ordered to pay compensation of £50, a victim surcharge of £60 and costs of £85.

Derek Joinson, 58, of no fixed address, was given a six-week prison sentence for assault by beating. He was ordered to pay compensation of £80.
