Handel concert at cathedral

HANDEL’s Messiah is set to be performed with a difference at Ripon Cathedral next weekend.

Ripon Choral Society’s enterprising conductor John Dunford has decided to explore some of the versions which have fallen into disuse for the event which takes place on Saturday, December 10, at 7.30pm.

This year’ performance of Handel’ ever-popular oratorio aims to recreate one of his earliest performing versions with some rarely-heard arias – although most of the work will remain entirely familiar including the choruses.

Tickets priced £6 to £19 and are selling fast but are still available online at www.riponchoralsociety.org.uk, at Alan’s Gallery on Kirkgate or from members of the society.
