Grand Canyon challenge

A 67-year-old man from a village near Ripon has volunteererd to tackle a challenge in the Grand Canyon in the USA to raise money for disabled children.

David Raine, of North Stainley, will take part in the PFA Children Today Challenge Cup 2013 taking place next year, from June 8 - 13.

David’s six-day ‘Wild West’ adventure will include mountain biking through the famous Arizona desert and kayak racing down a river in the Sonoran Dessert.

He will then spend four days conquering the iconic Grand Canyon,trekking through Havasupai territory, passing the stunning Beaver Falls and hiking up Carbonate Canyon to hunt fossils. His final day will be spent hiking out of the Canyon then on to Las Vegas to celebrate the end of the challenge.
