What will happen to the changing rooms on Stables Lane playing fields in Boston Spa has still not been decided.

Burned to the ground in December, they have been unusable and Boston Spa Football Club have since been sharing facilities at Bramham.

West Yorkshire Police, treating the case as deliberate, arrested a 28-year-old Leeds man on suspicion of arson and he is currently on police bail pending further enquiries.

But what will happen to the changing rooms is yet to be decided once the insurers have completed their work.

Boston Spa parish council chair Terry Gaussen said: “It is still in the hands of the insurers and they still haven’t completed their assessment of what they will cover.

“It is suggested what is built there instead, once the insurers have completed their work, will be opened up to discussion locally.

“That will incorporate views of what use the playing fields might be put to in the future, and it is one of the items listed for the public meeting we hold every year in May.”

Stables Lane is kept open to the public and Boston Spa’s tennis club and bowling club also have buildings on the site.
