Ex-Harrogate filmmaker set for Q&A at Everyman tonight

Bafta Award-winning Jane Linfoot, who lived in Harrogate for three years while studying for her A Levels and a foundation degree at Harrogate College on Hornbeam Park, will take part in a Q&A in person tonight, Tuesday at 6.30pm.Originally from York, she is the writer-director of new film The Incident, a psychological British drama starring Tom Hughes, who recently played Prince Albert in ITV’s Victoria, Ruta Gedmintas and youngster Tasha Connor.Jane, who studied Theatre Studies in Harrogate, will be introducing the film to the local audience in person.A Birds Eye View Film and Verve pictures release, Jane's new movie has been praised by the Daily Mirror for being a "bold and shrewdly structured psychological drama."Talking to the Harrogate Advertiser, she praised her leading man Tom Hughes for being as charming off screen as on.She said: "What stood out for me was how thoughtful and considerate Tom was at making Tasha feel comfortable and at ease whilst filming some of the more delicate scenes. She was only 17-years-old when we filmed."Jane also worked for a time at Harrogate Theatre before entering a career in TV and films, including working on the surreal black comedy TV series Asylum with Julian Barratt.But she still remembers her days in Harrogate with fondness and it was there she first thougt of a career in films, though she felt at that point it was beyond her reach.She said: "I had a great time studying in Harrogate; it’s a period in my life I’m often reminded of as I met one of my closest friends at Harrogate College, who also now happens to be a filmmaker. "I also worked at the Harrogate Theatre cafe and have some special memories of my time there, in particular making many a hot chocolate for an always charming, erudite local resident; the late Herbert Whone."Also taking part will be The Incident's producer, Caroline Cooper Charles.
