Everything you need to know: Ripon's big music festival and St Wilfrid's Procession after party

Ripon's newest summer music festival is back - and this year, organisers have branded it as the biggest after party to our city's St Wilfrid's Procession.

The first-ever Lodgefest was such a success last year, that it's expanded to become a two-day music extravaganza. The event raised thousands for charity, and this time the festival has teamed up with the hard-working St Wilfrid's Procession committee to make the first weekend of August one to remember for Ripon.

Not only is the festival raising money to support the committee, and Ripon's brilliant branch of the Royal British Legion, organisers have changed the timings so that Lodgefest starts immediately after this year's procession on August 4, running from 4.30pm to 9.30pm at South Lodge - and again on the Sunday, August 5, from 1pm to 5pm.

The line-up boasts a wide range of bands and singers showcasing Ripon's talent, including a very special reunion performance from 1970s band Cocktails, performing together on-stage after 41 years.

Cocktails formed in the summer of 1975 in Ripon, with band members Dave Hanks, Phil Stevens, Mark Stone, Kevin Stone, and Martin Armsby. They spent eight months writing and rehearsing at Hugh Ripley Hall. The band performed at venues across the district, and signed a recording contract in Germany.

Lodgefest organiser Mitch Kirk said: "We've got lots of bands on this year, I think it's going to be bigger and better than the first event. We'll have more seating for everybody, food stalls, an outside bar, and festival toilets.

"We were absolutely overwhelmed with how it went last year, and we're very excited about working more closely with the procession. It means that people can carry on the party when it's finished.

"Days like this bring everybody out, there will be lots to do."
