The Shadow Education Secretary Tristram Hunt MP was at Wetherby High School for a Q&A session this week.
With Elmet and Rothwell’s Labour Prospective Parliamentary Candidate (PPC) Veronica King, he answered questions from a group of students on a range of topics.
Led by head girl Emma Lees and head boy Sam Kerry, pupils asked about radicalisation in schools, gender equality, changes to GCSE exams, and how Labour plans to cut tuition fees would be paid for.
After Mr Hunt had left, Mrs King, Wetherby High’s acting headteacher Lucie Lakin, and Miss Lees all tweeted their thanks for his visit.
In next week’s Wetherby News (published on March 12) there will be a full report with statements on education from all Elmet and Rothwell PPCs.
