More than 1800 children travelled to RAF Leeming to take part in an annual interactive child safety event that has been hosted by the unit for the past 18 years.
Crucial Crew, organised by North Yorkshire Police is presented to primary, special and independent schools. The children receive presentations on a host of subjects including Electrical Safety, Building Site Safety, Fire Safety, Internet Safety, Road Safety and Stranger Danger. RAF Leeming Station Commander, Group Captain Tony Innes said: “I am delighted RAF Leeming was able to host this year’s Crucial Crew event. The event is a terrific opportunity for hundreds of local school children to visit the Station and, more importantly, to interactively learn about some of the hidden dangers we all face today.
The event was organised by PC Izzy Wilkinson of Northallerton Police Station who said: “Crucial Crew gives year 6 pupils from Hambleton and Richmondshire the chance to see the potential dangers in a safe scenario setting.”
