Building on successful performances held over the last 40 years, Ripon Charity Pantomime Group are putting together the finishing touches for another blockbuster bundle of laughs within a traditional panto setting.

And the group is urging people to cash in on special offers the this year’s production of Babes in the Wood.

Reduced price tickets will go on sale on Saturday November 28 on the organisation’s market on Kirgate, between 2-6pm.

Early bird prices for Babes in the Wood are £7 for adults and £5 concessions for anyone booking on that day.

The group will stage performances at Ripon Leisure Centre from Wednesday January 13 to Saturday January 16.

General tickets go on sale on Tuesday December 1 from Alan Matthews at Alan’s Gallery & Kirkgate Yarns, 19, Kirkgate, Ripon.

The show is a local interpretation of an old classic written and produced by Mike Hall.

Mike said: “The story of Babes in the Wood follows our hero, Robin Hood, and his thigh slapping adventures through Sherwood Forest with his Merry Men (and a girl), where they encounter the dastardly Prince John and his shifty side-kick, the Sheriff of Nottingham, the very odd Nanny Knickers and Joker Joe, the cheeky babes, Billy and Mags, the incredibly badly named Madam Eversonice and, of course, Maid Marion.

“It’s a fun filled, sing along show which will have you cheering, booing and shouting along in the best panto traditions.”

Ripon Charity Pantomime Group aims to deliver fun family entertainment while raising money for local causes.

Last summer saw the organisation hand over £2,500 to ten organisations after its production of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.

Those who benefited at a special hand out ceremony included Ripon Club for the Blind, Ripon Walled Garden, Scuba Diving for All, Saving Yorkshire’s Dogs and Mind.

A special donation was made to the Dogs Trust in memory of Linda Blades, a longstanding member of the Ripon Charity Pantomime Group cast and committee whose passion and profession involved canine welfare.

In the last 40 years, Ripon Charity Pantomime Group has raised in excess of £50,000 supporting organisations.
