A truck driver was left injured after crashing into another heavy goods vehicle whilst travelling on the on the A59 between Harrogate and Skipton.

The driver was heading towards Skipton when the collision took place and had his wing mirror struck by the vehicle travelling towards Harrogate.

The collision caused his mirror to break before it collided with the side window of the cab, causing it to shatter. The driver suffered a minor injury to his ear and was left shaken by the collision.

The other vehicle briefly stopped, with the driver getting out of the cab to correct its wing mirror. The vehicle then continued on, without providing details to the other driver or checking on his welfare.

That vehicle is described as a large goods flat-back, or tipper-type vehicle with a black cab. Police say it is possibly a left-hand drive and foreign-registered.

The vehicle that suffered damage to its window is a 55-plate Scania Tipper large goods vehicle.

The collision occurred about 4.30pm on Monday, near the public car park for Fewston Reservoir, and anyone with information is asked to call North Yorkshire Police on 101.
