Two robbers have made off empty-handed after trying to steal money from a cash register and knocking over a teenage girl shop assistant in a Ripon store.
The two men entered Hillside Nurseries Greengrocers on Fishergate on Friday, October 31, at around 3.20pm, with one of them asking the shop assistant – a 17-year-old girl – for help at a display outside the store.
The second man then took money from the cash register and when the assistant returned and challenged the man a few moments later, she was pushed over as both men left empty-handed.
They headed towards Market Place and onto Westgate.
The first man is described as white, around 5ft 8in tall and aged in his early to mid-twenties. He was wearing a tan coloured jacket with black sleeves and jeans. He was carrying a bag, worn across his body, and was wearing a dark hat.
The second man is also described as white, in his early to mid-twenties and was slightly taller at around 5ft 10in. He was wearing a black leather jacket, jeans and light coloured hat.
PC Lorraine Diggins, of Ripon Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “Thankfully the girl who working in the shop at the time was not seriously injured as a result of this robbery. However, she has naturally been left very shaken by this experience.
“If you can help to identify either of the men involved in this incident I urge you to come forward and contact the police straight away.”
Anyone who can help with this enquiry should contact Ripon police on 101, select option 2 and ask for Lorraine Diggins.
