Historic well damaged in hit-and-run

A HISTORIC well in Kirby Hill has been damaged by a vehicle in a hit-and-run collision.

It happened on Church Lane sometime between 10pm on Wednesday, June 1, and 8am on Thursday, June 2, causing extensive damage which will cost an estimated £1,000 to repair.

Police said the driver did not stop at the scene and has not reported the collision.

PC Neil Roworth said: “I am appealing to the driver of the car to come forward as I need to speak to them about the collision.

“I would also like to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision or garages that may have carried out repairs to the vehicle following the incident.”
