The following were dealt with at Harrogate Magistrates Court on May 12:

Sara Jane Cutts, 47, of 22 The Shepherdies, North Stainley, Ripon, was given a 12-month community order for stealing two charm bracelets worth £95 from Market Cross Jewellers in Ripon. She was ordered to pay compensation of £50.

James Capper, 29, of 420 Halifax Road, Wardle, Rochdale, was fined £120 for obstructing a police officer on the A61 in Harrogate. He was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £30 and costs of £85. He was disqualified from driving for 14 days.

The following was dealt with at Harrogate Magistrates Court on May 11:

Kyle Matthew Green, 22, of 18 Westbourne Grove, Ripon, was given a three-month curfew for using threatening, abusive or insulting words or disorderly behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress, in Old Market Place, Ripon. He was made subject to a restraining order preventing him from contacting the victim and from entering College Court, Ripon. Magistrates imposed costs of £200 and a victim surcharge of £60.

The following were dealt with at Harrogate Magistrates Court on May 10:

Matthew John Brereton, 40, of 21 Cotherstone Avenue, Bradford, was given an 18-month conditional discharge for stealing a photo frame from Grove House in Skipton Road, Harrogate. He was ordered to pay compensation of £50 and a victim surcharge of £15.

Peter Court, 51, of 17 Roberts Crescent, Harrogate, was fined £300 for failing to report an accident which occurred while he was driving a Honda Civic in Roberts Crescent, Harrogate, and which caused damage to a noticeboard belonging to Harrogate International Festivals. He was ordered to pay costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £30. Seven points were added to his licence. No separate penalty was imposed for failing to stop after an accident, or for driving without due care and attention.

Matthew Alexander Farrell, 31, of 22 Knaresborough Road, Ripon, was fined £120 for using threatening, abusive or insulting words with intent to cause harassment, alarm or distress. He was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £20 and costs of £85.

Joseph Andrew King, 22, of 30 Avenue Close, Harrogate, was given a 12-month community order for possession of cannabis. He was ordered to complete a six-month treatment programme for drug dependency, and to pay costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £60. For driving while under the influence of two different drugs, he was disqualified from driving for 14 months.

Oskars Lams, 28, of 4 The Cobbles, Rear of 7 Mayfield Court, Harrogate, was fined £120 for driving without due care and attention. He was ordered to pay costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £20. He was disqualified from driving for six months and seven points were added to his licence. No separate penalty was imposed for failing to stop and report an accident in which damage was caused to bollards and a shop doorway in High Street, Starbeck.

Sean Arthur Molloy, 45, of The Cottage, Grange Farm, Pateley Bridge, was fined £250 for driving while under the influence of alcohol. He was ordered to pay costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £30, and was disqualified from driving for three years, to be reduced by 36 weeks on completion of an approved course.

Robin Terence Piper, 41, of 1 Rose Cottages, Main Street, Kirkby Malzeard, was fined £120 for driving while under the influence of alcohol. He was ordered to pay costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £20, and was disqualified from driving for 20 months, to be reduced by 20 weeks on completion of an approved course.

Stephen Paul Cattanach, 40, of no fixed address, was given a 12-month conditional discharge for stealing a DVD box-set worth £32 from Asda in Harrogate. He was orderd to pay a victim surcharge of £15.

Jordan Michael Lee, 21, of 87 Aismunderby Road, Ripon, was given a six-month conditional discharge for being drunk and disorderly in Bondgate, Ripon. He was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £20 and costs of £85.

Margaret Lofthouse, 67, of 1 Racecourse Marina, Boroughbridge Road, Ripon, was fined £215 for driving without insurance. She was ordered to pay costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £22, and was disqualified from driving for 12 months. No separate penalty was imposed for driving a vehicle which did not have a valid test certificate, driving without a licence, or failing to stop following a collision which caused damage to a blue Honda Jazz in Judson Close, Ripon.

Shane Betts, 20, of no fixed address, was given a one-year community order for assaulting a woman by beating her, obstructing a police officer, and resisting two police officers attempting to make an arrest, eventually struggling free and escaping on foot. He was ordered to carry out 40 hours of unpaid work.

Andrew Mark Hayes, 23, of 2 Wellington Street, Ripon, was given a 12-month community order for carrying a four-inch knife in Wellington Street, Ripon. For damaging a cell at Harrogate Police Station in Beckwith Head Road, he was ordered to pay compensation of £44, a victim surcharge of £60 and costs of 85.
