Foodie fans should make a bee-line for Ripon and its magnificent cathedral when a new family-friendly Food, Garden and Home Show is launched this Spring.
The Food Garden and Home Show will take place on Saturday, April 8 and will seek to build on the success of Ripon Cathedral’s record-breaking Christmas Gift and Food Fair.
Open from 10am in the beautiful nave of Ripon Cathedral, the event will celebrate local food and springtime home and gardening.
It will also showcase the skills of celebrated chefs including a top chef from Swinton Park and Stephanie Moon, Chef Consultant to Rudding Park. A Yorkshire farmer’s daughter, Moon trained orignally at Craven College in Skipton where she won a work experience placement at London’s renowned hotel The Dorchester. The rest, as they say, is history.
The new festival will also offer the opportunity to meet and greet top gardener Martin Fish who will be doing a demonstration involving fruit, veg and herbs.
These demonstrations will run at selected times with limited capacity and must be pre-booked in advance by visiting the Cathedral website.
The event will showcase more than 50 local garden and food traders selling top quality products, including gin, country clothing, gardening ranges and gifts, local meats, ice cream and homewares.
Ripon Cathedral’s pop up café will be open all day to serve up treats and Easter Afternoon Team.
Families are catered to with plenty of children’s activities running throughout the day including plant a posy and decorating Easter Eggs.
There will also be a bird of Prey in the Cathedral courtesy of Thorp Perrow Arboretum.
The new festival will be supported by The Ripon Cathedral Development Campaign’s principle business partner CNG Ltd.
The opening times are 10am until 4.30pm.
Demonstrations must be pre-booked from Ripon Cathedral website at www.riponcathedral.org.uk/foodhomegardenshow
