Independents’ Day in city

While the USA celebrates Independence Day, traders in Ripon will be holding their own – almost homophonically named – Independents’ Day.

Due to the success of the first Ripon Independents’ Day last year, the Chamber of Trade and Commerce has once again invited all the city’s independent traders to join in the fun on Wednesday, July 4.

The purpose of the event is to promote Ripon’s wide-range of independently owned and run businesses and to encourage as many people as possible to use them.

As an additional incentive this year, customers of the retailers taking part will have the chance to win a £50 voucher to spend at one of the participating shops. The promotion involves customers being entered in a draw to win the voucher each time they make a purchase at one of the shops taking part, which can be identified by the display of a Ripon Independents’ Day poster and balloons.

l Any businesses interested in getting involved in the event should contact Fiona Trees at Memorable Moments on Queen Street or by emailing by tomorrow (Friday, 29 June).
