A Northallerton based charity has provided three new mobility scooters for Newby Hall, Ripon.
Abbey Health has provided and maintained scooters for the tourist attraction’s visitors for several years and this year’s new models and are painted in Great North Air Ambulance livery.
Regional Great North Air Ambulance fundraiser Sharon Munro hopes that the eye-catching colours will help to raise awareness of the charity’s vital services and the huge costs involved.
“We have three helicopters based between Penrith Airfield and Durham Tees Valley Airport, which cost around £4 million pounds a year to run. Each take-off costs £2,500 and they undertake around 1500 missions a year, so all the contributions from the public really count.”
Newby’s scooters are extremely well used every season and those who use them often give generous donations as a thank you.
In previous years this money has helped Abbey Health to maintain the scooters, but this year Abbey have generously agreed that all proceeds will go to GNAA.
