Music night: there is a Friday Night is Music Night tomorrow evening at 7.30pm. Please contact 01423 324276 for details of this month’s venue. All are welcome to sing, play or listen at these events. Admission is free and there is a donation to a different charity each month. Tea and coffee is provided and donations for supper are welcome.

Amblers: have a four mile walk at Pateley Bridge on Tuesday, August 6 led by Pat and Jim. Please meet in the car park in Back Lane for a 10am start. For more information about the walk please contact 01423 322881. Lifts are available and transport sharing is encouraged. All are welcome.

Yorkshire Countrywomen: the Boroughbridge branch of the Yorkshire Countrywomen’s Association is holding a pearl anniversary coffee morning in the Jubilee Room above Boroughbridge Library on Thursday, August 15 from 10am–noon. Cream scones will be served during the morning and there will also be a tombola and bric a brac. For more information please contact 01423 322988.

2013 tennis summer camp: there are two four day fun tennis and fitness camps for five to sixteen year olds organised by Boroughbridge Tennis Club during the summer holidays. Places are limited so please contact or email as detailed for availability. The first camp is from Tuesday, August 6 – Friday August 9 and runs each of the days from 9am-1pm. The second is from Tuesday, August 27 – Friday, August 30, again from 9am-1pm. The camps give the chance to either improve your game or to try a new sport with lots of other kids of all abilities., delivered by qualified LTA coaches. Church services : this Sunday there is a family service at Aldborough at 10am, Parish Communion at St James Church, Boroughbridge at 10am and a village service at Minskip at 10am. Boroughbridge Methodist Church has Sunday Worship at 10.30am. There is morning prayer at Cundall at 9.30am, a family service at Skelton at 9.30am and Holy Communion at Kirby Hill at 11am.
