Fashion Show: Boroughbridge Methodist Church is holding a fashion show next Friday, June 7 at 7pm in aid of the Community Hall Fund.

Sequence Dance: in the Coronation Hall next Saturday, June 8 from 7-10.30pm. The admission charge of £2 includes tea and biscuits.

Boroughbridge and District Historical Society: Jennifer Deadman gave a fascinating and informative talk on the history of College House in Masham, a story which had remained hidden for hundreds of years, at the May meeting. The society had a good attendance at the Plot to Plate Day exhibition and lots more research was added to their archive on Boroughbridge at War. The Cat in Hat scarecrow was the society’s entry for the scarecrow trail. At the June meeting, to be held on Tuesday, June 11, Phil Abramson will talk about his work as an MOD archaeologist at Catterick. The talk is entitled Barrows, Badgers and Bunkers.

Yorkshire Countrywomen’s Association: the May meeting of the Boroughbridge branch was the AGM and the chairman, Pat Lyddon, reported on all the events the group had held and attended over the year and then went on to thank everyone for their continued support. The treasurer Pat Smith reported that the branch had been able to make a good contribution to local charities from the proceeds of the coffee morning and had purchased a gazebo for outside events. The members were then entertained by Nicola Down who gave an interesting and fascinating talk on Hoaxes, Ruses and Conmen. On May 23 the group visited Barkers at Northallerton for a beauty school day given by Clarins. At the June meeting, to be held in the Jubilee Suite above Boroughbridge library on Thursday, June 13 at 7.30pm Sue Hibbert will demonstrate the art of feltmaking. Church Services: this Sunday there are services of Parish Communion at Dunsforth at 9.30am and at Aldborough at 10.45am with Evensong at St James Church, Boroughbridge at 6.30pm. Boroughbridge Methodist Church has Sunday Worship at 10.30am. There is Holy Communion at Skelton at 9.30am and at Kirby Hill at 11am with Sacred Space at Kirby Hill at 6.30pm. On Monday there is Holy Communion at Roecliffe at 11.30am. On Wednesday there are services of Holy Communion at Aldborough at 8.30am and at St James Church at 10.45am.
