Mothers’ Union: meeting is this afternoon at 2pm in St James Church, Boroughbridge when Jane Austey will speak on William and Mary Wordsworth. The Mothers’ Union is still collecting for the Salvation Army Food Bank.

The Stars and Beyond: the Boroughbridge and District branch of the RNLI invites people to Boroughbridge to the Stars and Beyond, an illustrated talk by Dr Fred Stevenson BSc, PhD this evening in the Crown Hotel Boroughbridge, 7 for 7.30pm. Springfield Garth Coffee Morning: Springfield Garth is holding a coffee morning on Saturday from 10.30am with a cake stall and raffle. Cream teas will be served during the morning and proceeds are for the residents’ amenity fund. All are most welcome.

From Russian with Love: the St Paulinus Singers are performing From Russia with Love, a choral and organ concert featuring music from Russia, France, England and the USA, conducted by Sam Gardner, organist Ashley Valentine, in St James Church, Boroughbridge, on Saturday at 7.30pm. Amblers: the group has a four mile walk at Newby and Brampton on Wednesday, led by Linda and Brian. For this walk the group is catching the 9.35am bus from Boroughbridge Market Place to Skelton, arriving there at 9.45am for the start of the walk that ends back in Boroughbridge. Royal British Legion: there is a Royal British Legion organised event when Flt Lt Keeling will speak on How they train the pilots at RAF Linton on Ouse on Monday, October 28 in the Jubilee Room above Boroughbridge Library at 7.30pm. Church Services: this Sunday there is Parish Communion at Aldborough at 8.30am, a Family Service at St James Church at 10am and the Harvest Festival at Dunsforth at 6.30pm. Boroughbridge Methodist Church has Sunday Worship at 10.30am. There is Holy Communion at Skelton at 9.30am and Harvest Festival at Kirby Hill Church at 11am. This service is followed by refreshments and the sale of homemade food and produce to support a charity working on community projects in some of the world’s poorest places. On Wednesday there is Holy Communion at St James Church at 10.45am.
