Minskip Games Area: following a very successful official opening of the Minskip Community Multi use games area, which was opened by the Mayor of Boroughbridge Coun Graham Archer together with his wife Ann and also attended by upwards of 100 people, the area is now open to the general public for tennis, five a side football, hockey, netball and basketball. Days are divided in to one hour sessions and there are facilities at the court to book your sessions ahead on a weekly basis. While children of Minskip, 15 years and under are invited to use the facility free of charge, to help cover the running and maintenance costs other users are asked to make a voluntary contribution  on an honesty basis before using the facilities. 

Coffee and Shop: there is a coffee and shop event, with all proceeds to Macmillan Cancer Support, tomorrow from 10am-12.30pm in Marton cum Grafton Memorial Hall. Please come along for coffee and cake, browse round the stalls and have your nails filed and polished by Jancey. There will be a raffle, Phoenix cards, Kit and Kaboodal linens and scarves and Green Tree Treasures with jewellery.

Friday Night is Music Night: there is a Friday Night is Music Night event at Minskip Village Hall tomorrow. Music for Macmillan begins at 7.30pm and all proceeds are for Macmillan Cancer Care. There will be a guest appearance by the Rallentando String Quartet and light refreshments will be available. Everyone is welcome to come along and sing or play, you are equally welcome to come along just to listen. Admission is free and there will be collections taking place for Macmillan.

The Stars and Beyond: looking ahead to next month, the Boroughbridge and District branch of the RNLI invites people to Boroughbridge to the Stars and Beyond, an illustrated talk by Dr Fred Stevenson BSc, PhD. Tickets are £7.50 to include a glass of wine or students under 18, £6 with a soft drink. For tickets please call 01765 640990 or 01423 325190. There will be a raffle and all proceeds are for saving life at sea on Thursday, October 17 at the Crown Hotel in Boroughbridge, 7 for 7.30pm.

Church Services: there is a United Service at St James Church, Boroughbridge on Sunday at 11am. Boroughbridge Methodist Church has Sunday Worship at 10.30am. The parishes of Kirby Hill, Skelton with Newby and Cundall with Norton-le-Clay has a United Benefice Service at Cundall at 10.30am, to celebrate the festival of St Michael and All Angels. Cundall also has a service of Sung Evensong at 6.30pm with the choir of Burton Leonard. The service will be followed by refreshments. There is also an exhibition of artwork on the theme of angles for people to look at before and after the services.
