Northern Aldborough Festival: continues its programme of concerts with the festival celebration concert, Durufle Requiem, at St Andrew’s Church, Aldborough this evening at 7.30pm. Tomorrow there is a morning concert, 11am, at Rudding Park. The concert is by VOCES8, a cappella vocal ensemble. Tomorrow evening the Charles Court Opera presents Gilbert and Sullivan’s Pirates of Penzance in St Andrew’s Church at 7pm. The festival has a last night extravaganza in the grounds of Aldborough Manor on Saturday with Voulez-Vouz and Perhaps Contraption. Strawberry Tea: Marton-le-Moor Meeting Room is holding an afternoon of events on Sunday starting at 2pm with children’s sports on the playing field. Following on from the sports, there is a strawberry cream tea with Pimms at the meeting and a topical picture quiz. Tickets are £5 for adults, £2.50 for children or £12.50 for a family ticket. Open Gardens: Marton-cum-Grafton holds its open gardens on Sunday from 11am-5pm. There will be an art and craft exhibition, a floral display in the church, games on Grafton Green and lunch, cakes and drinks in Marton Village Hall. The admission charges are £5 for adults with children admitted free.

Amblers: the group has a four mile walk on Tuesday at Coneythrope, led by Chris B. For more information about the walk please contact 01423 324011. Lifts are available and transport sharing is encouraged. All are welcome.

Dishforth Dash: hosted by Kirby Hill School PTA, the Dishforth Dash Run and Family Fun Day is being held next Sunday, June 30 at Dishforth Airfield, starting at 1.30pm and closing with an awards ceremony at 3.30pm. The run involves a choice of two courses, either a circuit of the runway which is approximately four miles or a circuit of the rugby pitch. Entry to the races is £7 and £3 respectively and all runners will receive a medal. The family fun part of the day is a children’s assault course, barbecue, music, cream teas and games. Entry to the field is £1 for adult non runners and parking is free. Dunsforth Country Fair the country fair and dog events takes place next Sunday, June 30 from 2-4pm. The event promises fun for all the family with a band, raffle, tombola, home produce, gift stall, plants, cream teas, pony rides, coconut shy,craft stalls, dog events and games. The event also features the Lynne Unitt dancers.

Community Field Trust AGM: the fifth annual general meeting of Minskip Commuity Field Trust will take place in the village field next Sunday, June 30 at 2pm. All are very welcome to the meeting and to view the work carried out over the last year. In line with the constitution of the trust and the agreement of the charity commission those committee members who have held office for the last year will step down and a new committee will be voted in at the AGM. Retiring committee members may offer themselves for re-selection. The development of the community field has come a long way over the last few years. New committee members are more than welcome, to join in, put forward their ideas and give their support to this exciting, ongoing development for the village. If you would like to become a committee member of the field trust and help to further its aims and objectives please come to the AGM. Alternatively contact Eric Glegg on 01423 322146. Minskip Community Field Trust: to follow up on last year’s successful event please look ahead to next month when you can take your partners once again for a barn dance and hog roast supper with live band and caller Green Sleeveless. The event takes place on Saturday, July 20 at Peach Tree Farm, Minskip from 7-11pm. There will be a licensed bar, raffle and children’s bouncy castle. Tickets are £12 for adults, £5 for children and al proceeds will go towards the village field. For tickets please call 01423 324269.

Church Services: this Sunday there is a Family Service at Aldborough at 10am and Parish Communion at St James Church, Boroughbridge at 10am. Boroughbridge Methodist Church has Sunday Worship at 10.30am. There is a Family Service at Skelton at 9.30am, Morning Prayer at Cundall at 9.30am and Holy Communion at Kirby Hill at 11am. On Wednesday there is Holy Communion at St James Church at 10.45am.
