Amblers: the group is walking the Roecliffe Ramble, three to four miles, tomorrow, led by Margaret. Please meet in the car park in Back Lane for a 10am start as usual, before travelling to Roecliffe where parking will be arranged. For more information on the walk, please contact 01423 302541. On Wednesday the group has a three and a half mile walk in the Crimple Valley, led by Pat and Jim. Please contact 01423 322881 for more information. Again, please meet in the car park in Back Lane for a 10am start. Next Friday, June 14 there is a short local walk, led by Ruth, followed by a summer lunch at the Black Bull, noon for 12.30pm. For information about this walk, contact 01423 324729. At the end of the month there is a four mile walk at Coneythorpe, led by Chris B. Lifts are available and transport sharing is encouraged. All are welcome.

Fashion Show: Boroughbridge Methodist Church is holding a fashion show tomorrow at 7pm in aid of the community hall fund.

Boroughbridge Tennis Club: is holding junior coaching sessions at the courts on Aldborough Road. Coaching is provided by the club’s new coach, Richard Gillies with Mat Parry from The Academy in Harrogate and Jim Moulton from Boroughbridge Tennis Club plus a number of other members of the club also assisting. Sessions are 10-11am for five to eight-year olds, 11am-noon for nine to 13-year olds and noon-1pm for 14 year olds and above. Springfield Garth Garden Fete: takes place this Saturday from 2pm onwards. Refreshments will be served and the afternoon includes a tombola, white elephant stall, cake stall and a raffle. Proceeds are for the residents’ amenity fund and everyone is most welcome.

Sequence Dance: there is a sequence dance in the Coronation Hall on Saturday from 7-10.30pm. The admission charge of £2 includes tea and biscuits.

Kirby Hill Church Clear-up: the next clear up is on Sunday from 10am-noon. Please bring along your own hand tools and refreshments will be provided.

Boroughbridge and District Historical Society: at the June meeting, to be held on Tuesday, Phil Abramson will talk about his work as an MOD archaeologist at Catterick. The talk is entitled Barrows, Badgers and Bunkers. Next Thursday, June 13, the historical society has a display at Ripon Library Local History Fair from 10am-3pm. The society meets at Boroughbridge Library meeting room, the Jubilee suite, at 7.30pm. Guest admission is £3 including refreshments.

Aldborough, Boroughbridge and Dunsforth: the next meeting of the WI is on Wednesday at 7.30pm in Aldborough Village Hall. The subject of this month’s meeting is Gayle Mill, its history and restoration. The WI is always keen to welcome new members and would be happy to see ladies come along to meetings with no obligation to join immediately. The WI is a group of mixed age ladies with many different interests and talents.

Yorkshire Countrywomen’s Association: at the June meeting, to be held in the Jubilee Suite above Boroughbridge Library next Thursday, June 13 at 7.30pm, Sue Hibbert will demonstrate the art of feltmaking. Church Services: this Sunday there is Holy Communion at Aldborough at 8.30am, a toddlers’ service at Aldborough at 9.10am, Choral Communion at St James Church, Boroughbridge at 10am and Parish Communion at Roecliffe at 10am. Boroughbridge Methodist Church has Sunday Worship at 10.30am. There are services of Holy Communion at Kirby Hill at 9.30am and at Cundall at 11am with the Activ8 club meeting at Kirby Hill at 11am. On Wednesday there is Holy Communion at St James Church at 10.45am.
