Boroughbridge Tennis Club is delighted to announce the introduction of junior coaching sessions from Saturday at the courts on Aldborough Road. Coaching will be provided by the club’s new coach, Richard Gillies with Mat Parry from The Academy in Harrogate and Jim Moulton from Boroughbridge Tennis Club plus a number of other members of the club also assisting. Sessions will take place at 10am for five to eight- year olds, 11am-noon for nine to 13-year olds and noon-1pm for 14-year olds and above. Come along for a free one hour session on Saturday when coaches can assess your child and agree a coaching plan with you. Sequence Dance: there is a sequence dance in the Coronation Hall on Saturday from 7-10.30pm. The admission charge of £2 includes tea and biscuits.

Village clean up: Marton-le-Moor Meeting Room committee is co-ordinating a village clean up on Sunday, starting from the meeting room at 10.30am. Yet again there is a tremendous amount of litter and fly tipping around the village lanes.

Royal British Legion in the Community: learn how the Royal British Legion is helping to provide services and facilities for the treatment and support of wounded, sick and injured service personnel. The Boroughbridge branch presents Defence Recovery by Major Kevin Young MBE, the officer commanding the Personnel Recovery Unit Training Team in the Jubilee Room above the library on Tuesday at 8pm. Entrance is free to all members and non members.

Antiques Detective: Boroughbridge Antiques Society is holding an open meeting on Tuesday at 7.30pm in the Coronation Hall when Judith Miller from the Antiques Roadshow and Miller’s Antiques Guide will speak on How to be an antiques detective. Calendar Girls: the Hightimers start their production of Calendar Girls in the Coronation Hall on Wednesday. Performances are on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, April 17 – 20, all at 7.30pm. WI: the Aldborough, Dunsforth and Boroughbridge WI has a coffee morning next Friday, April 19 in the Jubilee Room above Boroughbridge Library. The aim is to raise funds for the WI, particularly to pay for the WI sponsoring a hanging basket in the town. They are planning to serve coffee, tea and cakes from 9.15am-1pm and there will be a stall selling jewellery, scarves and handbags by Stella and Dot. Everyone is welcome and the organisers hope to see you there.

Organ Recital: St Andrew’s Church in Aldborough is the location for an organ recital by Keith Dale MA, GBSM, ABSM, DIPABRSM next Friday, April 19 at 7.30pm. Mr Dale has performed in some of the biggest cathedrals in Europe and organisers are delighted that he is coming to perform in Aldborough Church. A broad spectrum of organ music will be played. Tickets are £8 and are available from the Dairy in Aldborough, 01423 322305. Wine will be served in the interval.

Church Services: this Sunday there is Holy Communion at Aldborough at 8.30am, a toddlers’ service at Aldborough at 9.10am, Choral Communion at St James Church, Boroughbridge at 10am and Communion and the AGM at Roecliffe at 10am. Boroughbridge Methodist Church has Sunday Worship at 10.30am. There are services of Holy Communion at Kirby Hill at 9.30am and at Cundall at 11am with the Activ8 club meeting at Kirby Hill at 11am. On Wednesday there is Holy Communion at St James Church at 10.45am.
