An award winning couple are celebrating ten years in business.
Laura and Jon Vennell have won a clutch of accolades, including the Michelin Bib Gourmand and two AA rosettes, for fine dining served up at the Masham restaurant over the last decade.
Jon said: “When we opened Vennell’s ten years ago, we could not have foreseen the kind of following we have now.
“So many local people were willing to support our little restaurant and return time and time again.
“We have pulled through the other side of a recession and are so thankful to our customers, most of whom have become our friends.”
Their Silver Street premises have been the setting for two proposals of marriage as well as numerous weddings and other celebrations.
In April, Vennell’s was named among Britain’s 40 best restaurants by The Observer, as voted by chefs.
To celebrate their first ten years, chef Jon designed a ‘best of’ tasting menu, of some the most popular dishes, together with Jon’s favourites.
This six-course meal was recently served on four special celebration evenings and was rounded off with an extra special celebratory cake and Champagne.
Laura, who looks after front of house, said: “It’s been fantastic to be able to share this milestone with all who have supported us over the last decade.”
The couple live over the premises and are proud parents to three children.
Vennell’s, which has won the Bib Groumand for ten consecutive years, is hosting its popular annual lobster festival which runs for eight nights including July 8-11.
