The residents of a home in Sharow were given a shock but no injuries when a car drove into the side of their house.

Police described the residents as a 'lucky couple' and said it was 'amazing' that they had escaped without injury on Twitter (see below).

The couple were at home when a green Volvo V40 crashed through the wall of their house on Glebe Meadow yesterday.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “At around 12.55pm yesterday (Wednesday, 30 December 2015) North Yorkshire Police were called to reports of a Green Volvo V40 that had collided with a house in Sharow, near Ripon.

“Firefighters and ambulance staff also attended the incident. The residents were at home at the time but, fortunately, they appear to have escaped injury.

“Our investigations into the incident are continuing.”

The three passengers in the Volvo were also uninjured.
