SCORES of shooting enthusiasts took part in charity clay pigeon shoot near Ripon to raise money for good causes.
The Azerley estate, near Grewelthorpe, hosted the event on Sunday, April 1 4, to raise money for the Follifoot Park Disabled Riders Group, and Harrogate Hospital’s Child Development Centre.
Teams of four guns took part in competitions at Mill Farm on Eight Acre Lane, on the 1,500 acre country estate.
The event was organised by the estates gamekeeper Kevin Birch.
The competitions included six 80 bird flushes, giving each team 480 clays, as well as a pool shoot competition. Cash prizes of up to £300 were up for grabs for the winners.
There was plenty of entertainment for the rest of the family on the day.
A professional air rifle range was available, with competitions and instructors, and visitors had the chance to try their hand with a bow and arrow at a “have a go” archery range.
There was a hog roast, barbecue and bar on site providing refreshments.
Children were kept entertained with face painting and balloons.
Last year the event raised more than £12,000 for the two charities, and organisers are hoping to match the sum when entry fees and sponsorship money is all collected and counted in the coming days.
