Boroughbridge Young Farmers group has just missed out on becoming the overall winner at the Ebor District Rally for a third year running.
Members of the group competed with other local Young Farmers organisations in classes including handicrafts, stock judging, cookery competitions, flower arranging and a tug of war contest.
But despite their best efforts, the Boroughbridge group was beaten into second place by event hosts, Easingwold, after points across all the classes were totted up.
Club president Paul Gill said “Everyone has enjoyed the diverse range of competitions. I would like to congratulate Boroughbridge on their overall second place, unfortunately we were not able to hold onto the cup for the third year in succession. But I would like to congratulate the winners, Easingwold.”
Membership of Boroughbridge Young Farmers group is open to farmers and non-farmers aged 10 to 26-years-old.
It runs many activities throughout the year such as animal judging, go-karting and ice skating plus guest speaker events which this year have included talks by paramedics, the police and college tutors.
