Green Christmas tree collection scheme for Ripon
A Ripon charity has put the finishing touches to its environmentally-friendly tree collection and disposal service.
Ripon Community Link – which sells a variety of Christmas gifts, trees and wreaths throughout December at Ripon Walled Garden to support the delivery and development of its services for adults with learning difficulties – has collected trees from those living in and around the city.
The cost for this, which sees the trees being used for fencing at its Ripon Walled Garden, or chipped and recycled, is a minimum donation of £5 for those within a five-mile radius and £10 for those living between five and 15 miles away.
Ripon Community Link chief executive, Victoria Ashley, said: “Our Christmas Tree collection service proved very popular last year as it takes the hassle out of the post-Christmas clear up.
“For a small donation, we have collected Christmas trees, which have saved people a trip to the tip.
“All of the funds raised are used to support the delivery and development of our services for people with learning disabilities at our two sites, St Wilfrid’s Bungalow and Ripon Walled Garden.
“The trees we have collected have all been put to good use at our Walled Garden.”
