Harrogate bar may reopen after being closed for more than a year

A Harrogate bar which has not reopened since the first lockdown 14 months ago may be set to welcome back customers after stage three of the Government's roadmap out of lockdown.

The Swan in Harrogate on Skipton Road is currently advertising for a for a full time head chef to join its team.

Although boasting a history which goes back more 200 years, The Swan in its current guise was first opened in 2010 under the ownership of the Market Town Tavern Pub Company based in Knaresborough.

An inn known as the Black Swan is believed to have existed on the site at 17 Devonshire Place in High Harrogate since at least the latter part of the 18th century.

After being sympathetically renovated to retained the grandeur of the building whilst encompassing the contemporary but feel of a Market Town Tavern pub, The Swan opened up to good reviews more than a decade ago with fine ale and food with a mix of traditional beers such as Black Sheep and more recent craft beers.

The planned easements at Step 3 of the roadmap which are to go ahead from May 17 include:

The majority of the indoor and remaining outdoor economy can reopen, and gathering limits will increase indoors and outdoors.

Guidance for close contact between friends and family will be updated, with people exercising their own personal judgement in line with the risks.

The "Stay in the UK" restriction will be lifted and people will be able to travel to green list countries, if they permit inbound travel.
