How Harrogate wellbeing centre rose to challenge of soaring demand from people during pandemic

An award-winning Harrogate centre has risen to the occasion during the last year as the demand for wellbeing, both physical and spiritual, has soared as people try to keep their lives on track during the Covid pandemic.

Not only have Yorkshire Centre for Wellbeing founder Anne-Marie Burford and her son James Gopala Burford been determined to reopen on Duchy Road this week, it has also partnered up for the launch of a new service with Yorkshire's first yoga therapy clinic.

Anne-Marie Burford, who celebrated winning the Corporate Live Wire Prestige Awards for being the Wellbeing Centre of the Year in 2020, said: "We've always offered a Sanctuary to nurture, inspire and empower but, in light of the last 18 months, we are all more than ever aware of the necessity for physical , mental and emotional wellness.

Founded by Anne-Marie in 1986, the Yorkshire Centre for Wellbeing specialises in Yoga, Pilates, Meditation, Tai Chi and Ayurvedic Lifestyle and Diet Consultation, amongst other holistic therapies.

Yorkshire Centre for Wellbeing is also known for its retreats which are held both at the centre and abroad and allow for a greater discovery of wellbeing to you or me.

This week saw a return to live classes in the studio, though its Zoom and online offerings will continue.

And a new string to their bow has come with the opening earlier this week of The Yoga Therapy Clinic Yorkshire.

And Oxygen Advantage Breath Work as devised by Patrick Mckeown, the world's leading expert in the re-education of breathe

It's the brainchild of certified clinical yoga therapist, Claire Whittleston.

Yoga Therapy is on offer with certified clinical yoga therapist, Claire Whittleston and assists in decreasing the effects of disease and discomfort through accessible movement, breath work and relaxation techniques.

It empowers people to manage their own sense of health and wellbeing by providing tools to use whenever they need it.

Yoga Therapy works at every level - physically, emotionally and psychologically and supports the management of many illnesses including critical illness, chronic pain, mental health, neurological issues and the desire for healthy ageing.
