Fun Run boosts cancer research by over £10k

Organisers have revealed that this years' Bramham Park Fun Run raised £10,240 for Cancer Research UK at St James Hospital Leeds.

Beadnall Copley Estate & Letting Agents have sponsored this amazing event from 2007 and since its launch by Boston Spa couple Ann and Jeff Newton, the fun run in aid of CRUK, has raised a staggering total of £285,000.

Lynne Desborough, Senior Local Fund-Raising Manager, CRUK: “It’s been another hugely successful year for the Bramham Park Run Fun.

“The volunteers who organise this event, the wonderful course marshalls from Tadcaster Harriers and those who take part are all doing their bit to help Cancer Research UK beat cancer sooner and we can’t thank you enough.”

She added: “Thanks to the support of our brilliant event sponsor, Beadnall Copley, money raised from this year’s event will go towards vital research at the Cancer Research UK Centre in Leeds where world class scientists are leading pioneering work into the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer.”

Beadnall Copley have paid all the costs involved with staging the event and as such every penny raised goes directly to the charity.

Andrew Beadnall said: “I have been delighted to support this wonderful charity for many years and without the incredible organisational skills of Bev Firth and Ann and Jeff Newton who founded the run, none of this would have been possible.

“It has been humbling to see the thousands who have taken part over the years, running or walking in memory of loved ones, many of whom sadly have not survived.

“This year’s run attracted around 600 participants who covered a variety of terrains over the 5K and 10K courses.”

The event has been organised for the last couple of years by Garforth resident, Bev Firth who added: “There was such a great atmosphere at this year’s event and I want to thank all those who either took part, volunteered or supported the event in some sort of way.

“It simply could not go ahead without each and every one of you!
