Wetherby High School: Save the date for its open evening on September 27 and plan for education future

Parents and families are invited to Wetherby High School’s open evening to discover for themselves the four values which could make a difference to youngsters in the next steps of their education.

The school’s open evening is taking place on Wednesday September 27 and it will give children and their parents an opportunity to explore the school, talk to staff and ask pupils about their own experiences.

It’s a chance for families to start thinking about the future and to explore Wetherby High School’s culture, ethos - and the place - to see if it’s their perfect choice for the informative years ahead.

Wetherby High School will also share more details during the evening about the progress on plans for a new purpose-built school building.

There will be presentations about the school at 6pm and 7pm.

Students grow and develop as young people

Headteacher, Samantha Jefferson said the school is proud to have a “unique community”.

Wetherby High School places “relationships at the centre of our interactions with students and believe that students who have meaningful relationships in school are more connected to the school community”.

The students then, it believes, are able to feel safe to take risks in their learning and grow and develop as young people.

The school, said Ms Jefferson, is ”deeply committed to ensuring the educational experience for each student unlocks their full potential.

The school’s ambitions for each student goes beyond exam results, and to the development of them as people.

Partners in learning – Developing a relationship between home and school is vital to for students to realise their full potential.

Pupils are immensely proud of their school

The school is proud of the recognition from Ofsted in its latest inspection.

Comments included: “Leaders have created a truly inclusive school where every pupil is valued and cared for” and “pupils are immensely proud of their school”.

Wetherby High School ‘s work to promote pupils’ personal development and welfare was described as “outstanding”.

Ofsted inspectors also said that “pupils are courteous, friendly and routinely regulate their own behaviour” and that staff “create a very positive atmosphere for learning through their passion for their subjects” and also have caring relationships with their pupils.
