Every sixth form student at the Academy attained the grades to attend his or her chosen university today. Results in English language, literature, media studies, and vocational qualification were a real strength of the Academy, reflecting the range of specialisms of OAR. The average point score for vocational qualifications was 237, significantly above the national average and representing an average grade of a Distinction.

Sophie Shields of Outwood Academy will be studying Social Work at Leeds Metropolitan University.

“I am over the moon with my results. I really enjoyed my time at OAR, the teachers were a delight and I will miss them,” she said.

Chloe Galley and Courtney Bethell were among the many students who received outstanding results with both attaining 400 UCAS points, the equivalent of A*/A*/A*.

“I am excited to be going Northumbria University to study Business Management. My teachers have been so supportive and I really enjoyed sixth form,” Ms Galley said.

Harry Evans achieved a Distinction* in Performing Arts and 360 UCAS points overall and will move on to Sheffield University to study media.

Principal Steve Merifield was delighted that every student attained the grades to access their chosen university course or area of further training.

“A pass rate of 100 per cent is something to be really celebrated. Students and staff have worked incredibly hard over the past year and we are really proud of our students’ results.

“Our Year 13 students now leave us for the next exciting and challenging chapter in their lives and we wish them well. Year 12 students have laid excellent foundations for the coming year and I am sure they will continue to push themselves. Some of our students were able to overcome really challenging personal circumstances to achieve excellent outcomes.

“I would like to once again thank all of the staff for going the extra mile with students, the parents and carers for their continued support and the Academy Council for their unwavering commitment. The Outstanding Ofsted inspection this year recognised the many strengths of our sixth form and these have been reflected in the results,” Mr Merifield said.
