Leonie Gilbertson, Sales Manager at Barratt Homes’ Kingsley Meadows development, said: “Being able to encourage reading both at school and in the children’s homes is incredibly important, especially in line with the school’s green initiative which is very important to the children’s learning and development.”

Garry de Castro-Morland, Headteacher at Starbeck Primary Academy, said: “World Book Day has been a little bit different this year, and we’re very grateful to the support we’ve received in further promoting the importance of outdoor learning and reading.”

The school’s campaign sits in tandem with the housebuilder’s own commitments to the natural environment.

Its RSPB partnership is expected to see all future show homes built across the region designed to the Gold standard rating, and follows its recent announcement that further wildlife friendly features will be added to new sites across the region.

The donation will be used to buy brand new books for the school’s library on topics such as Geocaching and Bird Watching, in line with the school’s aim of improving outdoor-linked learning.
