The partnership comes just as the university is nearing completion of a new £80 million-pound Leeds School of Arts development in the heart of the city.

Adam Chandler, managing director of Harrogate Film Festival, has spoken of his delight after agreeing a partnership to help develop educational elements of the event in collaboration with the university’s film school.

He said: “I’m delighted to have The Northern Film School partner with the festival and look forward to a long and successful relationship.

Harrogate Film Festival is this year expanding and will be held over 10 days across numerous different venues in the spa town.

An eagerly-anticipated part of the festival is the independent filmmaker’s competition which has seen more than 1,500 submissions from over 60 countries over the last three years.
