“We all know there are some brilliant companies out there, but it’s not until you hear at first hand about their achievements that you really appreciate how much talent there actually is in our business community,” she said.

“This region is also incredibly varied, and that diversity is reflected in these shortlists; they include all kinds of companies, from medical equipment suppliers to second-hand van dealers – with tech companies, hotels, breweries and even a vineyard thrown in for good measure!

“I’d like to thank the judges from all the individual category sponsors for taking so much care during the decision-making process, and perhaps most especially Steve Archer and Matthew Stamford, who are directors at our main sponsor, estate agent Verity Frearson. We first benefited from their input four years ago, and they continue to bring great judgement to the process.

“We’re all very much looking forward to the awards ceremony next month, which promises to be as entertaining as ever.”

Other VIPs include the leader of North Yorkshire County Council, Coun Carl Les; the leader and chief executive of Harrogate Borough Council, Coun Richard Cooper and Wallace Sampson respectively; and the Mayor of Harrogate, Coun Nigel Simms.
