Drone firm captures '¨Top Gear desert drive

The new series of cult motoring show Top Gear has been given some uplift '“ by a Wetherby-based drone company.

Aerialrepublic.com was commissioned by production company Extreme Facilities to capture hours of agile aerial footage featuring new co-host and ex-Friends star Matt LeBlanc driving a sand-buggy through a desert in Morocco.

The footage was broadcast during the first episode of the hotly-anticipated 23rd series of the show, which pulled in more than 4 million viewers.

Aerialrepublic.com was founded in 2014, and employs a team of six videography and production specialists operating top-spec drones worth over £75,000 for clients including MTV, National Geographic and the BBC.

Operations director Lois Etheridge said: “The fact that our aerial videography experience was called upon by the team behind one of the most popular television shows in the world is a testament to the specialised knowledge and experience that we bring to each and every project.
