FOLLOWING an eventful couple of months, Harrogate-based comedy club sitting room returns on Wednesday, September 14 with an exciting new line-up.
After the opening night success where Patrick Monahan, Colin Cole and Roger Monkhouse entertained an audience of 150, sitting room founder and resident MC, Tom Taylor, is confident that his second show can match if not transcend the achievements of July.
“The first show was an unbelievable occasion, the comics were all excellent and that has been highlighted by successful shows at the Edinburgh Fringe and, more notably, Pat Monahan’s victory on ITV’s Show Me The Funny.”
Looking forward, the September 14 show, at the St George Hotel will see eccentric stand-up Paul Foot join Tony Burgess and Carly Smallman.
Tom commented: “Tony Burgess is a really talented writer with a prolific and incredibly wide-ranging output.
“His collaborations with Johnny Vegas, notably Ideal and Nightclass, are well loved, he has a successful play to his name and he was a consultant writer for Wallace & Gromit in The Curse of the Were-Rabbit!
“Carly Smallman only started performing stand-up in 2009 but she’s already established herself as a firm favourite in London clubs.
“Her appearance on The Rob Brydon Show shows you how highly the industry regard her. Her energy and creativity are infectious and her songs are frustratingly catchy!
“Paul Foot’s reputation precedes him. He is one of those ‘once in a generation’ performers; totally mad.
“He was once reviewed as ‘an exotic rare bird’ and I think that’s pretty close to the mark. His musings and rants have left him with a significant cult of followers and together with reaching the final of Last Comic Standing and a hilarious performance on Never Mind the Buzzcocks he has become one of the most recognisable faces of British comedy.”
l Tickets for the show at the St George Hotel, Harrogate at 8pm are priced at £10 and, together with more sitting room news and information, are available from www.sittingroomcomedy.com
