Community choir The Skelldale Singers are set to perform in concert in Ripon in an event organised by the Inner Wheel Club of Ripon Rowels.
The 80-strong choir will be at Ripon Grammar School on Saturday, April 5, at 7.30pm in a concert which is also showcasing the talents of guest instrumentalists William and Edward Freeman.
Playing xylophone and trumpet, the brothers will be accompanied on piano by their father Keith. Both boys gained success last year in Ripon’s Young Musician of the Year Competition.
Additional solo piano pieces will be performed by Nigel Gaze, who will also accompany The Skelldale Singers.
The concert will raise funds for local charity Dementia Forward, which provides support for people living with dementia and their carers. The focus of the organisation’s work is in promoting the well-being of people with dementia at all stages of their illness, from diagnosis through to residential care.
The choir meets weekly to enjoy the pleasure of singing together and has, over the years, built-up a wide repertoire ranging from pop to the more serious.
New members of varying abilities are always welcome at rehearsals which take place on Tuesday evenings (during term time) at Allhallowgate Methodist Church Hall, Victoria Grove, Ripon, from 7.30-9.30pm.
Tickets for the concert priced adults £7.50, children £5 are available from choir members, Alan’s Gallery and Kirkgate Yarns in the city, and on the door.
