Ripon city Band made it two in a row at the Brass in Ripon contest.

The band were making their last appearance in the cathedral competition as promotion makes them ineligible to enter the 2013 event.

They picked up trophy for the ‘most entertaining’ programme and the trophy for the playing of the ‘best march’. Attracting the highest `music score’ from Richard Evans ensured that they emerged convincing winners.

Overall, they walked away with second place, after a great performance by winners Gawthorpe 85 band from West Yorkshire.

Ripon also took best hymn trophy and the best soloist of the day with the delightful playing of the bands principal cornet player Jessica Whaites.
